The M36 General Assembly, held on 8–9 October at the Aachen-Maastricht Institute for Biobased Materials (AMIBM) and Vertoro B.V. in Maastricht (The Netherlands), proved once again that teamwork makes all the difference, especially when the project team is already entering its third reporting period and the final stretch of the project.
After three years of dedication, the hard work from each Work Package has come together beautifully. The research, demonstrations, and experiments have been connected and aligned, highlighting strong synergies between teams and a shared learning journey. Together, we’ve faced challenges, celebrated achievements, and kept the project moving forward through open collaboration and shared purpose.
The next six months promise to be especially exciting, as we unveil the final results and showcase the CARBIOW project’s real contribution to hashtag#biofuels and the decarbonization of maritime and aviation transport — and even the cement industry.
Visit to Vertoro
In addition to facilitating and enriching the exchange of ideas between the various partners, the CARBIOW project’s M36 General Assembly in Maastricht (The Netherlands) allowed the consortium to visit the facilities of Vertoro B.V.
Vertoro B.V. is a spin-off company from a public-private partnership between Brightlands Chemelot Campus, DSM, Chemelot InSciTe, Maastricht University (UM) and Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). They are a capital-backed and university-backed chemical startup with a novel and protected approach to transforming woody and agricultural residues into a wide range of bio-based chemicals, materials, and fuels. The visit proved very productive, especially for the work packages involved.
