Meet our Technical Coordinator: Ali Hedayati

Ali Hedayati is a chemical and energy engineer with extensive knowledge in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), hydrogen technologies, alternative fuels, and waste-to-energy technologies. He received his Master’s degree in Sustainable energy engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology KTH (Stockholm, Sweden) in 2011 and defended his PhDs in 2016 in Spain (UPC, Barcelona) devoted to pure hydrogen production technologies.

Since 2011, Ali has worked on different national and EU projects in Sweden, Spain, and the UK with a focus on clean energy technologies, bioenergy, and waste-to-value topics. Currently, he is a Project Manager at IVL Swedish Environmental Institute (Gothenburg, Sweden) and is focusing on clean energy technology solutions in different sectors at national (Sweden) and International (Nordic, EU) levels.

Ali is the technical coordinator of the CARBIOW project where innovative technologies are being developed to produce biofuels from low-value waste with negative CO2 emissions. He believes that these are groundbreaking technologies and process routes that will boost the attempts to shift from fossil resources to renewable ones while increasing the local energy supply security.

“Bioenergy is one of the pillars of decarbonization”, he believes.
